Happy Grandparents Day!

In case you didn’t know it, the first Sunday after Labor Day is National Grandparents Day!

We should, of course, love, honor, and cherish our relationships with our Grandparents everyday, but having a special day, gives us a chance to make them aware of how much they mean to us, and how much we treasure the special relationship we have with them.

Being a grandparent is one of the best things that has ever happened to me!  I am lucky enough to have good relationships with my grandchildren, and lucky enough to visit with some of them on a regular basis.  As a grandparent, I make sure that my grandchildren know that I love them, and that I am there to support them when needed.  I encourage them to love their parents and have good relationships with their parents.

I love to have my grandchildren visit with myself and my wife.  Our policy is to spoil them, and then send them home!

I encourage you to go visit your Grandparents today if you are able, or make that phone call or video call and tell them you love them!

A part of loving and caring for your Grandparents (and Parents!) is to make sure they have all of their legal documentation in place, so that everything is in place when needed at times in their life when they need your help.  Do they have a will?  Are power of attorney directives set up so that someone they trust can handle their business details?  Are medical power of attorney forms set up and accessible so that they can be readily proved to a medical professional when needed?

As a Notary Public for the State of Texas, I am able to notarize those important documents for your grandparents and family.  It’s important to have those conversations with your Grandparents and make sure their personal business and assets are protected, should something unfortunate happen to them.  I encourage you to have those conversations now, call a professional such as my self for notarizations, and then relax, knowing that everything is taken care of.

As a notary, I am not a lawyer, and not able to provide legal advice.
